The New Year is off to a rousing start. Sort of snuck up on us: POW! right into that energy of newness once January hit. I don't do New Year's Resolutions but I do find this midwinter time good for taking stock of what served me last year and what I want to focus on going forward.

Got Nut Milk Bags?

Exciting news here at More than a Nut Milk Bag HQ -- we recently unloaded our first-ever container load of More than a Nut Milk Bags straight from Bali. Our team in Bali, both Iluhs, Pak Wayan, Gede and Nyoman, worked several months to produce this large quantity of bags for us. It took six weeks for the container to travel to us across the Pacific. Our Napa Valley team -- my husband Mike, Salvador, Aaron, and Luis -- unloaded and safely stored a supply of bags that we hope will last for six months.

It's late spring and that means time for planting our small but productive garden. Not being up for starting my plantings from seeds, Mike and I wait patiently for our local organic farmer to offer a wonderful variety of starts during the month of April. We have gradually learned to keep things simple, although it's still hard to rein in our strong urges to get too many plants to start our garden. One each of heirloom tomato, cherry tomato, zucchini, and cucumber are sufficient.

It's August and my happy garden is producing like wild. Homegrown zucchinis, cucumbers, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, and raspberries join with the veggies from our weekly CSA box and treasures from the farmers market are turning our table into a bounteous celebration. Leo, our Golden Retriever, has begun his own yearly harvesting. He loves tomatoes, peaches and nectarines right off the branches. Mike and I couldn't be happier.
